November 2022 Randoms

Changing Landscape Views:
Fall was absolutely beautiful this year and the good weather continued into the first week of November. After one week, though, there was a drastic change: the time changed due to Daylight Savings, and the very next day a big snowstorm came and it snowed for 3 consecutive days and we were instantly thrown into winter! But even then, our surroundings were still very pretty, just VERY different!

It was crazy to see the leaves still on the trees
in our yard, some still green, in November!

November 7th--the first major snowfall of the season

The snow was SO wet and thick that the students at school
built MULTIPLE snowmen with it!

I love this photo that Josh took!

Our Boys:
Kanyon started wrestling practice in mid-November. It was the first time he'd done the sport since he was in 1st grade! The team was pretty small, and it mostly consisted of just sophomores like himself. He had a lot of learning to do, as nearly everyone else had more wrestling experience, but he was committed to it, which was admirable. He also continued working his produce clerk job at Saveway every Friday and Saturday up until Thanksgiving weekend; he had wrestling tournaments on weekends after that, so he stopped working there before Thanksgiving for the winter. He got a haircut in mid-November, in order to not be so hot and sweaty for wrestling. His hair had gotten pretty long (check out the photo earlier in this post at the father/son wrestling event). The same day I cut it for him, I took him out to watch the movie Wakanda Forever. It was a great movie! Since I work there part-time, I get in for free which was nice, so I treated Kanyon to his ticket (he really likes it when he doesn't have to pay for himself!).

After the time change in November, the twins weren't able to call at the same time anymore since Jonah "fell back" like us, but Micah "sprang forward" and the time gap between them was too large. Micah started calling around 6:00 our time, which was 10:00 his time, and Jonah usually called sometime between 7 and 8pm (his time zone is 2 hours later than ours). We love being able to see them over the face-time call each week! One week in November, the "Come Follow Me" lesson was about both books of Jonah and Micah in the Old Testament. We thought it was so funny to see this title on the Gospel App, since it's what we always called the twins growing up: "Jonah-Micah"!

A Sad Weekend to Conclude November:
Our friend Talona Jones passed away from cancer at the end of November. Her funeral was the last day of the month. We got to know her really well because she was in our same ward, always sat behind us on the rows in the chapel for Sacrament Meeting, and she was our good friend Hailey Linger's mom. I took the day off work to attend her funeral. It was such a beautiful service, and it was wonderful to see Hailey and Jason again, since they moved to Missouri in June. After the services, I went up to Hannah Vermaas's house to help Amanda (who'd come back to Salmon for the weekend) to help pack up and box up her mom's belongings inside the house and outside in the sheds. Hannah decided to move down to an apartment near Amanda in North Ogden and sell her home in Salmon. It was a pretty emotionally tiring day for me: it was sad to know that one of my friends lost her mom, and one of my friends wouldn't be visiting Salmon as often since her mom would no longer live here. I'm grateful for the experiences I've had with both Amanda and Hailey over the years from when they both lived in Salmon and helped me through difficult times in my life. I'm indebted to both of them, and love them both so much! I was grateful to spend time with both of them during their times of need on the same day.
Amanda & Jen sat by Josh & I at Talona's service.

That evening, Jen & Dallin, Josh, and Stacie &
Mark came over to help load up the boxes into our
cargo trailer to deliver to Utah the following week.

Jen & Dallin and Stacie brought food to share, too!
