The Views
One evening, Josh and I went for a walk down the lane, and the mountains were so beautiful over the hay fields! |
Josh takes beautiful photos while he's at work. The golf course landscape has become his canvas for capturing photographic art. |
Friends
Kanyon's friend Jaxson from Mud Lake came to stay with us for a few days. The boys played games inside and out. It was fun for Kanyon to have his buddy to hang out with again; Jaxson is nice and is a good friend to Kan.
Amanda and Ryan usually come to visit Salmon once a month. When they came in July we went out to eat dinner with them and Dallin & Jen at Six Soups. We weren't quite ready to be done with the night after dinner, so we all drove over to ValleyWide to get desserts, but then they were closing, so we ate our desserts out in the parking lot and had fun talking and laughing for quite a while. In fact, people kept stopping by thinking the store was still open long after it closed since we were all hanging out in the parking lot! It was such a fun night!
Our stake decided to go to trek for the first time ever. They planned to go last year, but with COVID, it didn't happen, so they rescheduled it for this summer. The 3 boys all went for the 4-day event in July, the week of Pioneer Day. It was in Bone, Idaho (southwest of Idaho Falls). They had a large list of items they had to bring, and attended several youth activities to prepare for the event (learning songs, dances, and what/how to pack, etc.). However, despite the amount of planning & preparation, there was some lack of communication about the event that really frustrated me! The boys had to purchase some items last minute that we were told from the beginning would be provided, and they bought them with their own money because they didn't tell me when they found out they needed them. Then on the actual day of the event, they once again found out that they were supposed to get/make additional items that they no longer had time to obtain, and had to go without. I'm so impressed with these boys and their willingness to do what's right, even despite challenges they face. They had a great time, and they loved the experience: they met a lot of people, and it was a very memorable week for them!
The Tokyo Olympics were scheduled for last summer, but once again, with COVID, it was rescheduled to this summer. I absolutely love watching the Olympics! I love the opening ceremonies, seeing all the different events over two weeks, and watching all the athletes' backstories produced and shown on television in conjunction with the sporting events. I documented what I thought were the best and worst outfits of the countries as they entered in the opening ceremonies. In particular, I really love traditional attire from different countries; overall, my favorites were the oceanic island countries. This year, for the first time ever, two flag bearers got to hold the national flags as they entered: one female and one male, which was so cool. I liked how some countries had their flag bearers wear special outfits different than the rest of the team.
Shows
Shakespeare in the Park visits Salmon nearly every year, either in the summer or fall. My favorite Shakespeare plays are the comedies, and this year the comedy was "A Midsummer Night's Dream", which was the first Shakespeare play I ever knew about since we performed a junior version of it in the 5th grade, so of course I had to go! They came to Salmon in July. I planned to go to it with Darcy Jackson, who I've seen several shows with before. A few days before the show, she said Phil and the kids were joining her too, so Josh actually joined me to go to it for the first time, as well! It was a wonderful show, and I'm always so impressed with what they are able to do with their traveling show and small cast!
These were my LEAST favorite outfits of the night. |
I loved these flagbearers' outfits!! |
