April 2023 Randoms

SPRING CLEANING (Outdoors):
We cleaned up the yard a little later this year due to the unseasonably late snowfalls we got in March.

mowing the lawn for the first time this year!

KANYON'S IRON ACCIDENT:
Kanyon's first golf tournament of the season was when Josh and I were in Mexico, so the following week, when the Salmon Golf Course hosted another tournament (due to other courses still being covered under a blanket of snow), Josh and I both took some time off work to go watch him throughout the day. I followed him for 9 holes, and then I went home. Apparently 2 holes after I left, he had an accident. He went to hit the golf ball with one of his irons, and just as he did so, the iron snapped apart right below the handle, and it sliced his thumb open. He rinsed it off in the nearby creek, and used one of his teammates' sports tape rolls to wrap it up, and then he unbelievably finished golfing his last 3 holes with it taped like that! Josh got there afterwards and he messaged me, and I came back into town. By the time I'd arrived, he'd just finished golfing, and I took him to the walk-in clinic. It was deep enough that it required stitches. We had to switch patient rooms to an outpatient surgical room. When the doctor came in to put the stitches in, he said he recognized Kanyon from his photo in the newspaper that was taken the previous week at the first tournament! He put four stitches in Kanyon's thumb, and gave him the bad news that he wouldn't be able to golf for 2 weeks until the stitches came out--which was nearly half the golf season since it started late due to the snow!

Thankfully, the slice was a pretty straight cut.

He got 4 stitches

He was a good sport about it.
Thankfully, he has high pain tolerance!

2 days later when we unwrapped it for the first time.

MORE SNOW!
Just when we thought Spring was FINALLY here, it snowed again on April 18! And there was enough of it to stick to the ground! It was surprising to me, but was downright confusing for the plants!

FRIEND GATHERINGS:
Kanyon's friends came over on the evening of April 22. As Josh and I were preparing the fire pit outside before they arrived, we were admiring Venus and the crescent moon in the night sky. It was such a beautiful evening to host a get-together! It was the first time his group of Salmon friends came over to our house, and we were so happy to finally host them! They roasted hot dogs and treats over the campfire and played on the giant stride in the yard. They talked, laughed, and hung out for hours. They all had a great time--it was the first of many nights like this to come!

I went to Mud Lake to be with my "Dominoes" friends on the evening of April 27. Rosalba hosted the event; we celebrated Angie's birthday with a nice dinner. We talked, laughed, ate, and had a wonderful time, like we always do when we get together!

MOTORCYCLING in the MOUNTAINS:
Josh took his dirt bike up to the mountains a couple Saturdays in April when I was working. The first time he went up Henry's Fork.

The next week, he went up Kirtley Creek. He didn't get as far on that trail because it was more significantly covered in snow.

Happy Late Spring!
The tulips were FINALLY thinking about blooming on the last day of April!
