Sixteen Candles x2

Jonah and Micah turned 16 in September. We let them open their main gift early, so they'd have it for the start of school at the beginning of September. We got them Garmin watches that track their steps and stuff (seriously, I don't have any clue as to what they do, but they both wanted them).

We also celebrated by having their "family party" a little early, too. We went to the East Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot together, which we haven't done as a family for several years. We walked around, ate dinner (everyone got whatever they wanted from the variety of food booths available...and my goodness, how I love fair food!), and I got the boys wristbands to go on the rides while Josh and I watched Gabriel Iglesias' comedy show. They had a fun night, Josh and I had a hilarious time, so it was a win-win for everyone!

On their actual birthday weekend, we ate their requested birthday meal of steak and mashed potatoes and their requested dessert of homemade pumpkin pie. And they opened the rest of their small gifts...they're so easy to please!

Since their birthday was a Sunday, we had all afternoon with them, and asked them what they wanted to do. They decided they wanted to go for a motorbike ride, and Josh went with them. However, part of the trail was a bit rough, and since Jonah' bike is a little too high-powered for trail riding, Josh let Jonah ride his bike, and they traded bikes. Unfortunately, Josh's bike was a little tall for Jonah, and he crashed it in a creek, breaking the handlebars and clutch...whoops! It was a memorable ride!!! Especially for Josh, as he rode his bike home without a clutch!

Jonah and Micah are the BEST teenagers! Seriously! For as hard as their infancy was and challenging as their toddler days were, their teenage years have been so blissful--and such a pleasant surprise for Josh and I!  Micah and Jonah are kind, thoughtful, righteous, selfless, serviceful, athletic, hard-working, responsible, independent, respectful, handsome, easy to get along with, and we sincerely love having them in our family!
