After the excavation was complete, the construction crew showed up to frame the foundation the very next morning (May 19). The first day, there was a crew of 4 people, and they put together all the forms in just over an hour.
Then they had to wait for the building inspector to come check their work before they could start pouring concrete. Thankfully, everything looked good, and they were able to pour concrete into the footers that afternoon.
Until then, I never thought concrete looked so pretty! But that concrete pad was truly a gorgeous site for me to behold!!! That concrete sat overnight. We were blessed with beautiful weather both days that the concrete foundation was poured. Those were the warmest, nicest days and we were SO lucky!
The following day (May 20), the crew came back. This time, they had 5 guys. They took down the forms surrounding the footers, and got to work setting up the frames for the foundation walls.
Again, they waited for the building inspector to come out, and again everything looked good and they got concrete poured into the walls that afternoon. On both days, it took two trucks with several loads of concrete to get the jobs done.
The next morning (May 21), the crew came out and removed the forms, and we were told we'd have to wait a week (more or less, depending on the weather) before we could have the house put on the foundation, because the concrete needed to be completely done setting up.

This is so fun to see the step by step process of your house. We would like to come see it in person sometime if that is ok?
