Winter 2015/16 Top Ten

March is here! The snow is melting, bugs and birds are flying around, and spring is definitely in the air! I was so happy when Punxatawney Phil said spring was on its way, and he was right! With each new season, I like to write a list of what we're looking forward to happening, and post what we did in the season that just ended!

WINTER 2015/15 Completed Top Ten List

1. Get a Christmas Tree
[completed 12/6] We went to a different location than normal, got a different type of tree than in years' past, and had a grand time together getting it in the mountains one Sunday afternoon.

2. Celebrate Christmas at home
[completed 12/25] I love spending Christmas morning at home with our own little family! We slept in, ate breakfast, opened gifts, watched Star Wars Episode III, hosted a family dinner, and went to the movie theater to watch the brand new Star Wars movie.

3. Go to Stanley to visit the Forsgrens

[completed 12/27] We always look forward to this annual trip to visit the Stanley cousins! We played games, ate, went to church together, and had a fun time (as always)!

4. Go skiing at Beaver Mtn with family

[completed 12/28] We actually went to the new Cherry Peak Mountain north of Logan instead of Little Beaver up Logan canyon. We went for a half-day one afternoon and going there was a new experience for all of us! My dad went with us, Kanyon had another snowboard lesson, and Josh and I skied with the other 3 boys and had a nice time on the slopes.

5. Celebrate New Years with family
[completed 12/31] This is actually the only picture I have of our New Year's Eve. It was really quiet this year: just Ammon, Kanyon, Josh & I, and Josh's parents. We worked on a puzzle, played radio trivia, and worked on the musical montage the last couple hours of the night. We missed our usual large crowd of family and friends!

6. Watch Ammon's basketball games
[completed 2/12] Ammon had a good, and hard, season. They got a new coach--which was hard in the beginning but he really liked him by the end of the season. They had a new group of freshmen to work with--which was difficult at times to get used to playing with people they've never played with before. They had a losing season overall, but there were some definite highlights and a few wins. We loved watching him make 3-pointers, he was defensively spot-on most games, and his team really improved over the 3 months that they played together.

7. Celebrate Ammon's birthday

[completed 1/11] Ammon is now 16! We celebrated with a small dinner, dessert, and gift giving. His real party was going to Boise one weekend and spending time with his friends Eli and Tim, and going snowboarding one day at Bogus Basin with them. He loved it!

8. Go to Malachi & Molly's and Kimi & Preh's weddings

[completed 1/16] Both of their weddings were the same day! Malachi's was that afternoon in Rexburg, and Kimi's was that evening in Idaho Falls. We love all four of these people, and were so happy to be a part of their special day! It was a wonderful day...except for getting locked out of the car, and driving on snowy roads, and having a meltdown (me), but other than that, it was awesome!

9. Go skiing/snowboarding together at Lost Trail

[completed 2/11] We actually all went one afternoon for Kanyon's requested family birthday party. This was Kanyon's 3rd time snowboarding, and we chose to not have him do a lesson. He struggled on the tow rope practicing, and on the first run down the hill, but really improved after that. Jonah and Micah have really improved since they've gone with the school this year and I was brave and went with them on the Powder Bowl. They're clearly better and braver than me!

10. Celebrate Kanyon's birthday
[completed 2/11] Kanyon is 9! We ate his special dinner and he opened a few gifts on his real birthday, and then a few days later, when Josh was home, we went skiing and had dessert and more gifts with extra family present.
