On Monday morning, I got a phone call from Kanyon's dentist saying they had a cancellation and there was an available appointment for Kanyon at noon. His dentist is in Idaho Falls, and I told them we'd take it since Kanyon's back bottom teeth (where the cavity was close to the nerve) were really bothering him. Josh picked him up from school around 9, drove him to Idaho Falls, they ate lunch, got Kanyon's teeth fixed in about 45 minutes (I love our dentist! He's awesome, his waiting room is fun, and the appointments never take long), Josh looked for dishwashwers at Home Depot & Lowe's (but there were no white ones available), and then he got gas and drove home. They arrived in Salmon around 3:30; just in time for Josh to do his afternoon bus route. It rained off and on all day, and although Josh hadn't planned on being gone all day, the rain made him less stressed about being gone from the golf course. For FHE, I gave the lesson about the Book of Mormon, we played golf with playing cards, and had brownies with peanut butter chips in them (the boys said they liked it better when I added butterscotch chips a few weeks earlier rather than the pb chips, though).
On Tuesday, Jonah was awarded the male 6th grade student of the month at the assembly. I found out about it thanks to Ammon's snapchat!! I asked him about it that evening (since he didn't tell me about it first), and he said "I guess I'm glad" about it. He actually let me take his photo (out of all my kids, he hates me taking his photo the most) with the certificate, and he got a gift card to Subway, too. I thought it was pretty awesome that he got recognized!
Josh and I took Micah on the monthly date on Tuesday night. He wanted to see "Zootopia", so we went to the theater. It was super cute, and I really loved it. I don't remember the last time that Josh saw a Disney movie in the theater with me...maybe never? He thought it was funny at times, too, and it was a fun little date. Since Micah stayed under the $36 budget, he got to keep $4 from it, too. (sorry the picture is blurry)
On Wednesday night I worked on college for about 4 hours straight after dinner. Then I jogged on the treadmill. I started jogging the previous Friday, and vowed to jog every day until my 5K. I jogged for 2 minutes the first day, and thought I was going to die, so I took the next day off, and already broke my vow! But I've added a minute to my jogging time every day since, and after Josh told me how to keep my breathing under control, it's been a lot better. But for some reason, Wednesday night's jogging was just as bad as the first time I jogged. I lasted for 7 minutes, and was SO exhausted after. My recovery time was a lot longer, and I felt like crap. I think it's because I was already so tired from working on my college class, and running so late at night. I laid in bed afterwards and thought about how ridiculous the whole situation was: that I was so out of shape that just a few minutes of exercise hurt so much and made my body feel so bad. I keep visioning myself healthier and skinnier, and I took a photo just to prove to myself that I am capable of so much more, and that I owe it to myself to get in shape!
Thursday was such a fun day!!! I loved the whole day! I'm a lover of holidays, and even a small one like St. Patrick's Day can be so much fun to celebrate! It was crazy hair day at school, too, so Kanyon decided he wanted his hair spiked and he let me color it green with temporary spray. He looked SO awesome!
Micah had me spray his mohawk green, too, after he saw how Kanyon's hair looked. I dressed up for the day wearing my oversized leprechaun hat; dressing up always puts me in a good mood! After school, I signed up Kanyon for spring soccer, and then he went with me to Lifestyles Salon. I hadn't had a chance to go tanning earlier in the day, so I took him to Burger King and got him a few things to eat so he'd have something to do while I tanned. Lifestyles had a huge party on St. Patrick's Day with giveaways, food, free massages, and free spray tans. The salon was SUPER busy, and I had to wait in line for the tanning beds. Kanyon loved it, though. He ate his food, played with balloons, and enjoyed the happy atmosphere. It was a fun surprise to be there during their celebration. I even got a 5-minute massage that made my neck and shoulders feel AMAZING!! Kanyon said going there was the best part of his day!
On Thursday night, it was our ward's Relief Society Birthday Party. They had a fun Wizard of Oz theme. Kerry went with me to it, and we had a great time, and a delicious dinner. I brought the boys home some cupcakes, and they brought me something too: a March Madness bracket. They'd each already filled out one when I was gone, so I randomly picked teams to fill in on my chart. It was a fantastic day altogether!
I got a haircut and fresh color on my bangs on Friday, and then Kerry and I went to lunch at the Mexican restaurant afterwards. I haven't eaten there in a long time; it was delicious (but it gave me bloating and gas ALL night). When I got home in the afternoon, the boys helped me clean the house, and I made lasagna for dinner because the Jackson's came over. It was Ammon's turn to invite a family this month, and he wanted Eli to come. Luckily, Emmy just started spring break the same day, and had just arrived home from Boise shortly before dinner, so it was great that she could come, too. The kids played XBox for a while after dinner, as the adults played Settlers of Catan.
It was the longest game of Settlers we've played yet. We all seemed to be about the same spot forever--8 points. And then suddenly, Darcy won! It was the first time she's ever won and I was so glad (the men always win this game).
After the Settlers game ended, the kids joined us in playing a few rounds of card Golf, except for Ammon and Eli who'd left to go watch Tim play in a volleyball tournament in town. When we went to Jackson's last time, Josh won Settlers and I won Golf, so I told them that when they came to our house, it would be their turn to win. Phil thought he had a win in the bag, but on the last round, one of the boys went out early, and he got a high score which put him in 2nd place. We love spending time with their family! They are so fun, and funny, and easygoing, and we enjoy their company.
On Saturday morning, Josh went to work, and I took Kanyon to the Stake primary activity. While he was at the activity, I went to the golf course to work on painting giant Twister boards on bed sheets for the youth dance that night. Josh was supposed to come up with 2 activities to do at the dance (he's in the stake young men's presidency), and since the theme of the dance was a "sock hop", I thought it would be fun to play Twister, since that's a game you play in your socks. I'd found 3 sheets at home, and measured out how many dots could fit on each, and I just needed a big flat surface, a large cardboard piece, and some paint to complete the project, and Josh had all those necessities at his shop. I swept the cement pad, made and cut out a template on a large piece of cardboard, and got to work painting in the circles. I got two sheets done before running out of one of the paint colors, so Josh went to the store and got it, and when he came back, I had to go. I'd made a lunch appointment with a friend, and he said he'd finish the project.

These were the two sheets I painted. We set them on the golf carts to dry. |
I took Gina to Last Chance, and we both ordered the Chicken Pancetta. I hadn't eaten there in a long time, and it was SOOO good! It was such a treat to spend alone time with her! We left when it was time to pick up the kids from the stake primary activity. Kanyon was eating his boxed lunch when I arrived. He'd had a great time; the activity was centered on the scriptures and it was so organized and a lot of fun. He made this boat out of a twinkie right before we left!
He wanted to go golfing, so I took him to the golf course and dropped him off. Ammon had just finished working for Josh at the golf course, and was waiting for Eli and Tim to go golfing, so he took Kanyon golfing with him until his friends came. Then Josh brought Kanyon home after he was done working. When I got home, I worked on rearranging the area between the kitchen and the family room to fit the new freezer that we brought home from Grandpa's house. It has been sitting on the back deck since we came home from Spokane; first to thaw out, and then just waiting for me to have time to bring it in. It took several steps: I moved the chest freezer, swept and mopped the floor where it had been, emptied the cupboard, moved the cupboard to where the chest freezer had been, re-organized, cleaned, and put everything back into the cupboard, swept and mopped the floor where the cupboard had been, cleaned out the new freezer, brought it in to where the cupboard had been, and transferred the food from the old chest freezer to the new upright freezer. And then when I got it all in place, I didn't like the new setup. Josh said I should give it time. And I did. I gave it about an hour. And then I figured out a way for the area to seem bigger. I moved the cupboard again, this time next to the freezer instead of across from it, and now I love it!
Right about the time I was done with the freezer project, Ammon came home with Tim and Eli. They rode motorbikes around for a while until it was time to clean up and go into Eli's for his {surprise} birthday party! I love these friends of Ammon's!
They cut Ammon's hair on Friday night when they were at Eli's house. Tim and Eli worked together to give him the steps on the side. I've never seen Ammon with a haircut like this, but we both like it, and the boys did a great job!
On Saturday night, Josh and I went to the Stake youth dance. It was at the Backstage Dance Studio this time, and it was the perfect spot for it! There was about 40 kids that came, and it was just the perfect size. The sock theme was so fun, and they had a funky sock contest. There were several games and prizes, and a lot of the kids danced. I enjoyed myself immensely!

Today at church, I played piano for two musical numbers in Sacrament meeting, Jonah and Micah went to the care center to help with their Sacrament meeting, and Micah taught his first lesson in Young Men's about forgiveness. We ate dinner at Ed & Kathy's, and I've spent the remainder of the evening taking a long nap and working on my college class.
Oh, and as a side note: Ammon's pet fish Tyler died. And so did the replacement fish Tyler II. And his girlfriend dumped him this week. Ammon might be writing a country song soon.
