Brundage & Burgdorf

Josh and I went to the McCall area over Labor Day weekend because Jeff Crosby's band was playing at the Brundage Resort as the last performer in their summer concert series. We went to his concert there last year and absolutely loved it! It's a family-friendly event and an amazing outdoor venue with lots of seating on tiered grassy levels, several food vendors, great sound, and it's totally free! Also, the band performed for 3 hours at that concert last year, so we looked forward to returning there again this year for the event. We left work early on Friday, September 1st to get to Brundage before the concert began. The concert started before the sun set and continued long after it had gotten dark. We had so much fun! The weather was beautiful, and the concert was just as great as the previous year! We had a great night! We danced and sang along and laughed and truly enjoyed ourselves.

We spent Friday and Saturday night at the Burgdorf Hot Springs rustic resort 30 miles north of McCall. We'd been there 2 years ago for Josh's birthday and loved it and wanted to return. This time we stayed in a different cabin than before; the front steps and deck had recently been re-built, which was nice. We spent all day on Saturday relaxing, reading, and soaking multiple times. It was heavenly. We each read an entire book on Saturday which is almost unheard of, too. My book was 350 pages, and Josh's book was an impressive 550 pages! We'd both worked some long hours in the previous 2 weeks and welcomed the break in a non-cell service area. Originally, we were going to go hiking into Secesh Hot Springs on Saturday, but it's a 5-mile hike, so we ultimately changed our minds that morning because we just wanted to relax. It was definitely the right decision! We had a fantastic time!

On our way home on Sunday, we hit up a couple more hot springs--including a new one (to us) near Garden Valley called Bronco Billy (bringing our current Idaho Hot Springs total to 104). It's pretty close to the road, set on a rocky ledge right above the highway. The hot springs emerge on a cliff about 100 yards across the road and uphill from a parking pullout, then the hot water is piped to a small 2-person, wood-framed tub on a flat ledge overlooking the highway and river. Unfortunately we didn't stay there long because we arrived shortly after another couple got there. I just soaked my feet in the tub for a brief moment, then we continued on our way. We stopped at Campground Hot Springs shortly afterwards, which we'd been to before, but not for several years. It wasn't too busy, so we ventured around and soaked our feet once more before completing the drive back to Salmon.
