Kanyon's Fourteenth with Friends at Fat Cats

Kanyon turned 14 in February. This year was his turn for a friend birthday party. On his actual birthdate, I took him and his two friends Jaxson and Ryker to Fat Cats in Rexburg after school. We invited his friend Dax to join us as well, but he was unable to come due to a basketball game that day. The boys played miniature golf, bowling, arcades, and then I took them to dinner at Freddy's (one of Kanyon's favorite fast food restaurants). I loved listening to the boys' conversations on the drive there and back, and hanging out with them during the party! They're such good, fun boys! I'm grateful that Kanyon has such great friends at West J!

Kanyon cheering because he beat Jaxson at bowling.
Ryker beat everyone at mini golf, so Kan (being
the competitive boy he is) wanted to win something!

Kanyon made bank with this game! He figured
out the timing of it, and played it several times and
earned a TON of tickets from it!

This cool Minecraft sword was one of the prizes he
picked out with his winning tickets.

We had his family birthday dinner and gift-unwrapping on the weekend after his birthday when we went back home to Salmon. He was a good sport to wait for four days after his actual birthday to open gifts--I told him he could open them the weekend before his birthday, but he said he was fine to wait! He knew what most of them were anyway! There was only a couple of surprises. We ate his traditional birthday meal of steak, potatoes, biscuits, and cream corn. For dessert, he picked pumpkin fudge.

Fun fact: he doesn't like gravy on his mashed potatoes!

All the cash he got from grandparents, aunts, & uncles!

He loved this shirt! (He picked it out!)

This was one of the surprises: cookies & cream
flavored milk from Gossners.

Kanyon is a funny, smart, strong, sarcastic, gaming, easygoing, competitive kid! He makes us laugh with his wisecracks, amazes us with his remarkable memory, astounds us with his increasing strength and ability to lift weights, and surprises us with his strategies when playing board or card games together. It's been a rewarding journey watching him grow! We love him and are glad he's part of our family!
