Father's Day 2014

Father's Day weekend in Salmon is always a busy one. There's a car show, a baseball tournament, and a golf tournament--and all of them are at the city park!! Because of the large golf tournament, Josh always has to work on Father's Day weekend. When he came home from work on Saturday morning, we all went together into the car show; we love going attending this annual event put on by the Spokes & Chrome organization!

This next 2-door car was so long--the boys did a demonstration to show the length:

And this one was super short, in fact when wearing a Burger King crown, Kanyon was even taller than it!

We thought the vehicles with the cute, old, small trailers were so awesome. Josh and the boys particularly liked this one (I think partially because of the fabulous color choice):

And I loved this one! A 2-door station wagon is so unrealistic and impractical, and yet also so hilarious!

I have a soft spot for the fonts and chrome that are on the classic old cars--and took several photos similar to this one!

Later that night, we went as a family to the stock car races at the fairgrounds in Salmon. We'd never been to them before. The boys absolutely loved it! They placed {very small} bets on the different races, and it was exciting for them to watch the cars speedily {and noisily} race around the track. And Josh and I had a great time watching our boys being so enthralled with the races!

The following day after church, Josh and I made a nice meal of grilled pork chops and mashed potatoes. We invited our friend John over to join us, too. It was delicious (of course!), and afterwards Josh opened presents from me and the boys.

Kanyon had created a self portrait at the end of the school year, and when he brought it home from school, we decided not to show it to dad. Instead, we hid it and waited to give it to him for Father's Day. Kanyon did a great job making the art project, and the noodle frame spray-painted in gold was a nice touch. Josh liked the creative gift!

We've been gifting Josh gnomes for several years now, and the backyard collection is almost complete. Micah's gift was a glow-in-the-dark gnome that has a solar light.

Jonah's gift was a Duck Dynasty gnome (it's supposed to be Jase).

Ammon's gift was a gnome riding a motorcyle--the boys all helped me pick this one out the previous week.

And my gifts to Josh were a back massage and a hammock (which he'd requested). When all the gifts were opened, John went into the kitchen and put away the remnants of our meal and he did the dishes for us, too. That was an awesome gift (thanks, John!)! While John was working away, Josh took his weekly Sunday Siesta!

It rained for a few days after Father's Day, but on the first sunny day (which was several days later), I finally got around to hanging Josh's new hammock in between the two apple trees in the backyard.

And once it was there, I couldn't believe that we'd gone so many years without having it! It was the perfect addition to our yard! I have enjoyed it soooo much--in fact, I think I've used it a lot more than Josh (not because he doesn't like it, but because he's just so busy in the summer that there isn't enough time for him to always relax).

Kanyon also took an instant like to it as well!! He'd been begging me for days to hang it up, and was so glad when I finally did!

Over a week after Father's Day, Josh FINALLY took his first turn in the hammock!

He had me do a few height adjustments with the rope (first it was too low, then the feet were too high), but then just like Goldilocks, the hammock became JUST right!!! And here's the proof:

Our boys are so blessed to have Josh as their dad. He teaches them to work, he plays with them, he does fun outdoor activities with them, he works hard to support us, and he is a good example to them of what fatherhood is. Happy Father's Day, my love!
