Prime Party

We hosted the annual Elder's Quorum Party again this year in our backyard on the evening of the 3rd Friday in June. It had rained off and on all day, and we were nervous that the weather might not work out for our benefit. We had gotten everything ready in anticipation of the outdoor event: the lawn was mowed, the weeds were pulled, the tables were moved, the dinner items were set, and then it was just a waiting game to see what the weather would do. Thankfully, before the party began, the rain clouds blew away, and we had sunshine for almost all of the party (it trickled a little bit after dinner was done).

The menu was Prime Rib, baked potatoes, salads, and desserts. Jason Linger is currently the ward's EQ President, and Josh is his first counselor. They served the meat and potatoes to all the dinner guests.

The Prime Rib was even better than last year, I believe! Josh's portion was larger than his plate! He loved every bite...it reminded me of watching the dad eat the 96 pounder on the movie "The Great Outdoors"!

There wasn't a huge turnout, but there was enough people to make it a fun dinner! We sat by the Wilcox's and John Anderson, and the conversations were so funny that I laughed practically the whole time!

After dinner, some of the guys and ladies got brave, and began swinging across the ditch on the rope swings. Mark Oliverson, a member of the bishopric, made it look easy, and was even swinging upside down! Several others tried it, too including Dallin Judy who almost took out his young son when he tried to land, and Stacie and Camille who swung on the rope that has a loop in it. Everyone was enjoying the entertainment!

After several of the guys had tried it, there started to be some dares as to who should try it next. David wasn't falling for the peer pressure, but after 5 people said they would do it if he did it, then he began to change his mind.

So, there ended up being a string of people who all decided to give it a try...it started with Craig, then Jason did it, and this was his hilarious attempt (it's 30 seconds worth watching!):

So after Craig and Jason, then David actually succumbed and tried it (you can see he's ready to take the rope here after Jason wet himself pretty good).

And since David followed through, that meant that his wife Gina and I had to go, too. She aced it! I, of course, didn't. I had the biggest fail of all (this is me laughing after dragging myself through the water)!

We had so much fun! It was my favorite Elder's Quorum Party yet! We had a delicious dinner, we talked and laughed with good company, and it was followed by fabulous and free entertainment afterwards! That's the makings of the best kind of party right there!
