Little Swimmers

I enrolled Jonah, Micah, and Kanyon in swimming lessons this summer. Ammon didn't want to do it anymore, and since he can swim in the deep end without help, I told him he didn't have to. Instead, he took golf lessons! The golf course is across the street from the swimming pool, and thankfully Ammon's lessons were during the same time as the boys' swimming lessons, so it worked out wonderfully!

None of the boys did swimming lessons last summer because I was frustrated with my previous year's experience with it. So, I wasn't quite sure what the twins' swimming level abilities were this year. I decided to put them into the Level 3 class. This was Kanyon's first year of lessons, but he really likes the water and feels comfortable in it, so I put him in the Level 2 class.

Swimming lessons were 45 minutes in length, and lasted four days a week for two weeks. We have an outdoor pool in Salmon, and thankfully the weather and water were warm every day during our morning lessons! The boys all really liked their instructors, and they each did so well during lessons. Jonah and Micah were able to do most of the swim requirements in their level, but they have to take this level again because they didn't pass off everything. Kanyon will also have to take another year of Level 2 for the same reason. I really enjoyed watching them swim every day!

Learning to dive in the deep end from the side of the pool:

Micah doing the back float:

Jonah's turn jumping off the diving board. I love how his legs are crossed!

Micah jumping off the diving board. He took a straighter approach!

Kanyon swimming by himself:

Kanyon listening to his swim instructor:

Jumping off the side of the pool! He loved doing this!

Jumping off the diving board! He was the bravest one in his class, and did it several times!

As Kanyon's class swam across the water to the diving board, they looked like a family of little ducks with their little yellow life jackets on! It was so cute!

On the final day of lessons, Kanyon received a bag of goodies with his certificate:

When Jonah and Micah first started lessons, the water irritated their eyes. So I bought them colored goggles, and they did so much better with them! I just love this photo of the two of them on the last day of lessons!

Sounds just like swimming lessons in Roosevelt...We also had so much fun! It's such a good feeling when they finally learn to swim on their own...you can finally have more fun as a parent as well...
