Some"bunny" Special

In Mrs. Casterson's Kindergarten class, each child gets to take home Huckleberry Bunny for one weekend. Along with Huckleberry comes a journal, a special book to read, and a poster to make. The child does everything with Huckleberry over the weekend, then write what happened in the journal to be read to the class on Monday. We need to read the special book once about bunnies at bedtime and we make the poster all about the special some"bunny" who got to bring Huckleberry home.
The first weekend in October, Micah was chosen to bring home Huckleberry. We had a great time with the bunny! It even came camping with us--we made sure to prop him up by a window so he could see us when we played outside. Micah helped me make his special poster by choosing what pictures to place on it, what information to write on it, and he colored his name at the top. Then we got to pick a special book of our own to read to the class on Monday and he picked me to be the special visitor to come and read it. I talked about Micah's poster and then read his favorite book "Runaway Bear" to the class. It's about a man who makes two bears just in time for his twin daughter's birthday, and one of the bears (the gold one) runs away and the other bear (the brown one) searches through the night to find it and bring it back home before the girls' birthday. After the story, Micah showed some of his stuffed bears to the class, and we treated the class to gold and brown Teddy Grahams.
On his poster, Micah wanted to put photos of some of his favorite things to do: going camping, making fires, riding 4-wheelers, riding horses, riding bikes, reading books, playing with cars, playing in the dirt pile, and playing with his brothers.
It was so fun spotlighting Micah in his class! We talked about how Jonah and Micah are twins, and some of their differences. Micah loved being the special student for the day, too!!!
