{not so} Cheap Thrills

One evening at the end of June, our young friends Kimi and Zak showed up at our house ready to party with this package:Even though the front of the package says "USA" in giant letters, guess where it was made? (look at the lower right corner).
Zak and Kimi took turns dropping the firework balls into the launcher, and lighting the fuses: It's amazing to think that it starts out like this: And ends like this:
This is what our family was doing during the show (Even though the package explicitly said "Use Close Adult Supervision", the supervising adults kept their distance!!!). It doesn't take much to keep this family of boys entertained!
Kimi and Zak were sad when the last ball they had purchased was all used up:
Coincidentally, that was also the one that didn't launch properly, and instead shot out on the ground 10 feet and started some grass on fire!
See the orange blur on the left side of the photo? That's Kimi running to the fire; her and Zak ran over and stomped all over the small fire which was already spreading in some dry grass, trying to not have it spread to Grandpa's neighboring hay field. After the flaming balls were all gone, we watched the ground fireworks instead. Notice the photo shows a hose to the right of the flaming fountain? Josh was the brilliant man--when the little fire started, he ran and grabbed the hose. After that, it was right on hand in case a fire started again (thankfully it didn't). We sure had a great time watching Kimi & Zak's production!
