our Twins are Ten!

Jonah and Micah turned 10 on September 22. I can't believe they're in their double digits now! Where has the time gone?! Their birth was so monumental in my life, so with each passing year, as I see their growth, I feel so grateful for the young men they are becoming since their lives started so fragile.

This year it was their turn for a family party, and the activity they chose was to go miniature golfing and camping. So, the weekend before their birthday, we went camping to Lost Trail Hot Springs in Montana. We hadn't been there in several years, and since there's a small miniature golf course a few miles down the road from it, we thought it would be the perfect location to fulfill both requirements.

After parking at our campsite, we unhooked the trailer from the truck and drove down to the miniature golf course at the Sula store. We arrived just in time...only a few minutes before they closed! We all picked a different color golf ball, and we set out on the small 9-hole course that's adjacent to the Sula store's campground.

We all had a great time! Josh just barely beat me by one point! So we played the 9 holes again, and the 2nd time I think Ammon was the winner.

Then we headed back to our campsite at Lost Trail pass, and cooked up some yummy tinfoil dinners.

We went swimming after dinner at the warm pool. The boys had a blast swimming and playing with each other. The weather was perfect, and I really enjoyed the relaxing down time with our family.

The boys started playing a launching game, where Ammon and Josh would put the boys on their back, then they'd dip down in the water, and when they came back up, whoever was on their back jumped off backwards. They were trying to make the biggest splashes, and it was a fun game for them to play and so funny to watch!

When a whole bunch of weird biting bugs started flying in and landing in the water, we got out of the pool and soaked in the hot tub for a bit before heading back to camp. Ammon chopped up some wood for us, and the boys helped find dead branches around to build up the campfire.

The next morning, we lounged around for a while before packing up and returning home. Josh played Monopoly with Kanyon (because Kanyon packed it and begged dad to play with him), and I played Phase 10 with the older 3 boys.

A week later, it was their real birthdate. They invited their friend Mason Lamont to spend the night, and he came to church with us, too. After church, we had a family party for them. Mason joined us, as well as Grandma & Grandpa T. and Uncle Tim & Barb. We ate the twins' requested meal for dinner: steak with mashed potatoes and gravy.

After dinner, it was time to open presents! They had gone shopping with me the previous day and had helped me pick out items they wanted, so they were excited to open the gifts that they already knew that they'd get as well as gifts that were surprises to them from both Grandmas.

One of their surprise items was new Duck Dynasty shirts. They both love that TV show. When I'd taken them shopping, we'd looked at a variety of Duck Dynasty shirts because they both wanted one, but we couldn't find ones that they wanted or liked. So when they both opened new Duck Dynasty shirts from Grandma T., they were delighted!

One of the items that they already knew they'd get but couldn't wait to open was the legos that they'd both picked out while shopping with me. Micah wanted a "city" one, and Jonah got a "star wars" one.

They got a lot of great items for their birthday: new clothes, toys, treats! They said it felt like their own special Christmas!

Grandpa T. also got the twins a new wheelbarrow with a double-wheel in front, that was so useful for their assistance at the Pumpkin Patch. It's a great wheelbarrow and is their favorite one now!

For dessert, the boys wanted different items: Jonah picked brownies and Micah chose bread pudding. We put candles in both and sang to them, and they both blew out their candles.

We all got to eat two desserts for their birthday! What a treat!

As soon as dessert was done, they both went straight to their room, and worked on building their much-anticipated new lego sets. They listened to the radio using the new headphone sets Grandma P. gave them while they built the legos, too!
See the bunkbeds in their room--we just got them for their birthday, too. The old bunkbeds were shorter ones that they'd begun to outgrow. They were bunkbeds that I used when I was a kid. So, we took those down and Jonah and Micah helped me bring up the bunkbeds from Josh's parents house that Josh used when he was a kid. They're bigger, and the boys can sit on the bottom bed without hitting their head on the top bed now. They're really sturdy, and they like their new beds!

Their last little birthday celebration was the Monday after their birthday; they took special treats to share with their class at school. Jonah took chocolate mini donuts, and Micah took powdered sugar mini donuts. They have a great 4th grade class, and they sang to them before they ate the yummy bday treats.
