Merry Christmas 2014

There was a big, wonderful snowstorm before Thanksgiving this year, and it put me in the holiday spirit early. I actually ordered my Christmas cards before Thanksgiving--which is a first! But not surprisingly, I still waited until just this past week to mail and deliver them!!

I ordered two styles of Christmas cards because Josh and I both liked different ones, so not everyone received the same card! Here's what they looked like, and our annual newsletter, too:

In with the NEW; Out with the Old!
2014 was a year full of NEW experiences for our family!
Here’s 14 of them:

1. Jonah and Micah went skiing for the FIRST time in January. Grandpa P. paid for them to take lessons, and they both liked it!

2. Kala enrolled as a full-time online college student at Western Governor’s University in February, working towards a degree in elementary education.

3. Kanyon participated in the sport of wrestling for the FIRST time in the spring. He never got pinned, which we were proud of, but he also never won a match. He was focused & determined during the season, and wants to try it again!

4. Our family went on a spring vacation in March to Moab and stopped at Goblin Valley State Park on the way. None of us had ever been there before, so it was NEW to all of us! We got lost trying to get there, and had a huge family fight in the car on the road, but the end result was fun!

5. Ammon went on band tour to Seattle with the high school group in April, and it was his FIRST time on a charter bus. The time in Seattle was awesome! Unfortunately, the time on the bus driving there and back was not!

6. Jonah and Micah both got their FIRST pairs of glasses this spring. And then they got their 2nd and 3rd pairs this summer and fall after accidentally breaking a/o losing them!

7. Ammon went to his FIRST formal dance (8th Grade Prom) in May.

8. Kala went to a 4-day adult singing camp in Challis called Chorale Rendezvous in July. It was the FIRST time she’d been a part of a choir since high school!

9. We went camping to a NEW location near Leadore in July. Josh and Ammon had a great time riding their motorbikes together on lots of trails in the mountains while we were there, but the camping excursion ended with a trip to the emergency room in Salmon and Josh with a torn A/C ligament.

10. Josh learned how to do things in NEW ways while being impaired due to his injured shoulder. He even fixed a broken pipe in the pond at the golf course one-handed, too!

11. Ammon took driving lessons and got his FIRST driver’s permit in August!

12. Micah and Jonah played on the youth football league for the FIRST time this fall. They have been looking forward to it for years, but it was a lot harder than they’d anticipated. It was so exciting when their team made their first touchdown during their 4th game!!

13. Kala started a NEW healthy lifestyles challenge in the summer. In October, she reached the 20-pound mark for amount of weight lost (which is the halfway point of her goal)!

14. Kanyon was a salesman at the pumpkin patch in October for the FIRST time, and he did an excellent job happily serving and helping people.

May your lives be filled with joy in the NEW Year (amidst times of good & bad)!
Love, Josh & Kala Tolman and family
